Bringing your voice to the House of Commons In my first speech since the last election I spoke about the priorities the people of Scarborough Centre-Don Valley East sent me to Ottawa to work on: stand up for our sovereignty, build more homes, and make life more affordable. Thank you Church of Our Saviour, Don Mills I recently had the opportunity to attend the community yard sale and annual bake sale held by The Church of Our Saviour, Don Mills in my riding of Scarborough Centre-Don Valley East. Thank you Liz Liness and Reverand Pierre Niyongere for inviting me and everyone who helped to organize this fantastic event. I appreciated the warm welcome, It was wonderful to meet members of the community in this relaxed setting, and also to see the talents of Don Valley East on display with the amazing art, homemade soups, donuts and other baked goods. Whatever our faith, we all want the best for our family, our community and our country. Events like this help to build strong communities, and I look forward to getting to know this new part of my riding better this summer. Toronto Caribbean Carnival kickoff Toronto Caribbean Carnival kicked off in June at Scarborough Town Centre. This year’s theme, “Take Me Home,” celebrates the heart and soul of Caribbean culture. Toronto is home to a vibrant and proud Caribbean community, and I look forward to celebrating with them all summer. |

Investing in Canada’s Armed Forces We are rebuilding, rearming, and reinvesting in the Canadian Armed Forces and we will achieve NATO’s 2 per cent target this year – half a decade ahead of schedule. This will mean better pay for our CAF members, better equipment, and new capabilities. As the world grows more dangerous, Canada will lead – with values the world respects, the resources the world wants, and an economy that leads the G7. Building one Canadian economy — strong and free Canadians elected us with a strong mandate to do big things. To be bold and ambitious. That includes the serious undertaking of rebuilding the economy. That’s why we’re moving ahead with substantial legislation to build one economy out of 13. Trade within Canada is an essential driver of the Canadian economy. Enhancing internal trade and removing barriers will be a key tool to counter the impact of U.S. tariffs. It is estimated that removing these internal trade barriers within Canada could lower prices by up to 15%, boost productivity by up to 7%, and add up to $200 billion to the economy. We’re also creating a clear path forward for investors, provinces, Indigenous partners, and workers to deliver bold new projects. We’re removing duplication, inefficiency, and aligning governments and departments. And we’re standing up the Major Projects Office to guide the most important projects from start to finish. This is how we will build the strongest economy in the G7. That is how we win a trade war – one we didn’t ask for, but from which we will not back down. |
