Parliament returns with speech by King Charles III
Parliament officially resumed on May 27 with the Speech from the Throne delivered by his Majesty, King Charles III. The speech outlined the priorities of our new government to make life more affordable, build more homes, and grow the economy for every generation. It prioritizes cutting taxes for the middle class, helping first-time homebuyers, strengthening public health care, and fighting climate change. We are committed to building a Canada that works for everyone—where every generation can get ahead.

NATIONAL UPDATES
Remembering the Lapu-Lapu Day attack this Filipino Heritage Month
June is Filipino Heritage Month, and as we celebrate Filipino heritage, culture and cuisine and honour the contributions of Filipino-Canadians across Canada this month, we will also be remembering the victims of the tragedy that occurred at the Lapu-Lapu Day festival in Vancouver, as well as all those impacted by it. We stand in solidarity with this resilient community.
One Canadian economy
Your government is building one Canadian economy.
This week, Prime Minister Mark Carney met with First Ministers to remove internal trade barriers, unleash Canada’s economic potential, and get major projects built faster across the country.
We will table legislation to expedite nation-building projects and remove federal barriers to internal trade.
We will build big, build bold, build one Canadian economy, and build it now.
Remembering those lost in the London terror attack
On June 6th, we will solemnly mark the fourth anniversary of the horrific terrorist attack in London, Ontario, where a hateful act of Islamophobia claimed the lives of four members of the Afzaal family and left a young boy forever changed.
Let us renew our pledge to foster inclusion, reject division, and ensure such a tragedy never happens again.

June is Indigenous History Month
June is Indigenous History Month, a time to honour the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It’s also a time to reflect on the true history of Canada and the importance of reconciliation. As a country, we must listen, learn, and support Indigenous voices while working together to build a future rooted in respect and justice. I encourage everyone to take part in local events, read Indigenous authors, and explore Indigenous art and history. Let’s celebrate Indigenous heritage and commit to meaningful action in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.
