Let’s make next December Canadian Christian Month

I have heard from many of you about the importance of recognizing December as Christian Month in Canada.

I have had the privilege of joining you throughout the year for holy events and celebrations, but December is such a special month as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th.

My colleague Jean Yip, MP for Scarborough Agincourt, has introduced Motion M-171, to recognize December as Canadian Christian Month.

I am happy to be the first MP who has seconded her motion.

I hope to have the opportunity to vote in favour of this Motion very soon, so next December can officially be recognized as Canadian Christian Month.

It was a pleasure celebrating the hard work this past year of Scarborough Centre’s various community members. Have a well-deserved break this holiday season and we all come back stronger and even more determined to do meaningful work in 2025!

We experienced yet again the beauty of diversity in our Scarborough community. It was a lovely evening of fellowship and friendship, good food and inspired performances among our riding’s Multifaith Council. hank you everyone, especially Grace Place - Dorset Park Church and their amazing team of volunteers for hosting.

International Decade for People of African Descent

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared January 2015 to December 2024 as the International Decade for People of African Descent.

Since endorsing the UN Decade, our Liberal government has made historic investments and delivered programs for Black-led organizations and Black communities to reach critical milestones, including:

More than 40 people, places, and events of national historic significance related to the history of Black people in Canada formally recognized.

The Black Entrepreneurship Program which has helped almost 9000 Black entrepreneurs get mentorship, business training and financial planning advice so they can grow their businesses.

Created the Mental Health of Black Canadians Fund, to help address the physical and mental legacies of racism Black communities have faced within the country.
