Canada Summer Jobs make a big splash in Scarborough

Today at the Dorset Park Hub, Scarborough Centre MP Salma Zahid recognized local organizations and students that were benefiting from the Canada Summer Jobs program.
On the job work experience is an important way young people get the skills they need to launch their careers. For many students, the summer is the perfect opportunity to get that experience.
This summer, more young people are going to benefit from the Canada Summer Jobs program than ever before.
In Scarborough Centre, the Government of Canada is providing funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program to help local 86 local employers and businesses hire as many as 300 students this summer thanks to more than $1.2 million in approved funding.
For young people in Scarborough, this means they will have the chance to experience the challenges, the successes, and the learning that happens at a summer job.
It’ll help them gain the skills and experience they need to find a good quality job.
A diverse group of local employers have been approved for funding to hire students in Scarborough this summer, including the Agincourt Community Services Association, Urban STEM, Wilmar Heights Baptist Church, Scarborough Muslim Association, Youth Action Network and Working Women Community Centre.
