Record job growth has a positive impact in Scarborough and right across Canada

Canadians have created over one million jobs since 2015 thanks to the Liberal Government’s plan

When the middle class has more money in their pockets to save, invest, and grow the economy, we all benefit. New numbers show that the Liberal Government’s plan for the economy is working. Time and time again, Andrew Scheer and the Conservatives have followed in Stephen Harper’s footsteps by voting against policies that would help grow the middle class and make life more affordable for Canadians – including providing families with more money through the CCB and tax cuts for the middle class. Today, while visiting SP Importers Grocery, Salma Zahid, Member of Parliament for Scarborough Centre, announced that, since November 2015, Canadians have created over one million jobs, including many new jobs in Scarborough. Even more impressive is that almost 800,000 of these new jobs are good paying full time jobs. While talking to workers, Zahid highlighted the positive economic impact that the Canada Child Benefit and the Middle Class Tax Cut have had on job growth. In addition to the positive job numbers, recent data from Statistics Canada has shown that Canadian incomes are at their highest point in history. The same report also noted that poverty was down more than 20% from 2015. Quote “Nearly four years ago Canadians chose a government that committed to investing in the middle class. Today, Canada’s economy is one of the fastest growing in the G7. More than 1 million jobs have been created since November 2015. We know that there is still more work to do and we will keep making the investments needed to grow the middle class and help those working hard to join it.” - Salma Zahid, Member of Parliament for Scarborough Centre VIDEO PHOTOS
